Auld Cross Keys Inn – Denholm, Hawick

DSC_0008For over 200 years the Auld Cross Keys Country Inn has been at the heart of life in Denholm.

Serving the community originally a bakehouse and then as a coaching inn the Auld Cross Keys is a local asset that is also making its mark as a popular choice with visitors to the Scottish Borders.

The country inn is run by Dave and Karen, who moved to the Borders from Castleford several years ago.

Since then they have been responsible for overseeing extensive refurbishment and expanded the number of guest rooms from two to 12.  All are en-suite with TV, wifi and tea and coffee making facilities.

Depending on the weather guests and regulars can enjoy cosy open fires in the bar and restaurant area or a large south facing patio.

Dave and Karen have also built up an excellent reputation for serving good home cooked food ranging from pub grub to a la carte and a Sunday carvery. Real ales behind the bar go down very well with visitors and Dave takes ales from the Scottish Borders Brewery and the Northumberland Brewery.

The Auld Cross Keys was preparing for its first beer festival in March, lining up 40 top ales from all over the UK, which promised to be one of the biggest events of its kind ever staged in the Borders.

“A lot of bookings are repeat business and many are from fishing, walking, shooting and golfing parties. We can also organise Freedom of the Fairways passes for the golfers,” said Dave.

The Auld Cross Keys Country Inn offers private parking for guests.
