For as long as anyone can remember people have been making tracks at Overwells.
A short drive from the historic royal burgh of Jedburgh, Overwells has witnessed history in the making.
A little under 2,000 years ago the scene at the bottom of the valley overlooked by Overwells was one of constant activity as Rome’s legions marched north and south along Dere Street, the Empire’s main link from York to the Firth of Forth.
Nowadays walkers and cyclists are following St Cuthbert’s Walk, working their way through the borders to Lindisfarne, or walking the Four Abbeys Cycle Way.
The beautiful countryside is also a magnet for horse riders. And visitors all year round are making a beeline for Mill House holiday cottage at Overwells, a superbly appointed, private, rural retreat looking across unspoiled countryside to the Cheviot hills.
Overwells is a perfect base for exploring the Borders in all its diversity and guests are welcome to walk anywhere on the farm. Golfing and fishing enthusiasts are spoilt for choice, having the championship Roxburghe course and the River Tweed virtually on the doorstep.
Kelso racecourse is nine miles away with national hunt cards from November to May. A visit to Edinburgh or Newcastle is only an hour’s drive away.
Mill House has been renovated to the highest standards and offers one double bedroom and one twin-bedded room, bathroom and split level kitchen/dining room accommodation for all the family. A large, comfortable living room with picture windows offers spectacular views of the surrounding area.
