Cheers – Cross Keys rolls out the barrel for Borders beer fest

alesReal ale enthusiasts will be raising a glass (or two) to the Auld Cross Keys in Denholm, near Hawick, next month.

The village inn’s owners Dave Bennett and Karen Massey have joined forces with micro-breweries based in the Borders and Northumberland to line up a bevvy of the UK’s top ales.

They will be served up at a three-day beer festival at the Auld Cross Keys that will be held from March 2 to 4.

Over 40 top brews will be guests of honour at the festival, travelling from as far away as Lincoln, Birmingham and Norwich.

The festival will also feature ciders and perries as well as favourites from the Northumberland Brewery, the Tempest Brewery in Kelso and the Scottish Borders Brewery near Ancrum which will mark a highly successful first anniversary at the festival.

“We think the festival will be one of the biggest staged locally and we have organised entertainment over the three days so it should be a great event,” said Dave.
