From hidden gems to championship challenges the courses in the borderlands are second to none, combining stunning backdrops, breathtaking views and challenging driveways that make golfing a sheer delight.
There are over 50 golf clubs to choose from in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland including the acclaimed Slaley Hall, Roxburghe and Cardrona courses, the latter often described as the ‘Gleneagles of the south.’
Most clubs on the Scottish side of the border are signed up to the Freedom of the Fairways Golf Passport – Scotland’s best selling golf pass and you can find out more at www.visitscotland.com/scottishbordersgolf.
The oldest club in the Borders is at Hawick where they have been playing golf since the 1870’s and the 16th hole is know as McLaren’s Miracle – named after the voice of rugby and one of ‘Hawick’s ain,’ Bill McLaren – who once shot a hole in one there.
We are proud to be working with clubs in the region to promote golf tourism and teeing up some of the borderlands great golfing experiences.
What more could you ask for – friendly clubs, great courses, inexpensive free fees and a warm welcome at the 19th.
